Did you know that Basic H, the cornerstone of our company’s green legacy, wasn’t just for sparkling clean surfaces? It turned out to be a marvel in the agricultural world!

During the 1970s and 80s, a series of agricultural studies shed light on Basic H’s unexpected prowess as a soil conditioner. Imagine this: two adjacent fields, one using conventional fertilization methods and the other employing Basic H blended with manure.

The results?

A staggering difference in root ball size, and even more impressively, a 29% increase in corn yields where Basic H was used!

But what made Basic H so effective?

It all comes down to the science of water penetration. Basic H’s formula helped water become “wetter,” allowing it to seep deeper into the soil, taking precious nutrients down to the root level.

Depending on the soil type—whether sandy, clay, or loamy—water penetration increased anywhere from 30% to an astonishing 300%.

Such efficiency in water and nutrient delivery not only bolstered plant growth but also meant less runoff and a significant reduction in the risk of eutrophication* in nearby water bodies.

Despite regulatory complexities that later limited the promotion of Basic H for agricultural purposes, the product’s legacy endures. It’s biodegradable, does no harm to the soil, and continues to be a secret weapon for those farmers who’ve witnessed its benefits for years.

In this video, Dr. Bruce Daggy shares the untold story of how a simple product, originally not intended for agriculture, ended up revolutionizing crop yields.

It’s a fun reminder that sometimes, the benefits of a product can transcend its original purpose, finding its place in fields quite literally!
